Hi All,
As mentioned in my previous
post, see link below, this will be the start of me writing a breakdown
of each episode of Digimon Tamers and the differences between the
Japanese/English/Manga version of this season.

I will also make cute little title cards like this one for fun's sake :D
Anyway on to the breakdown.
Digimon Tamers Episode 1: Guilmon Comes Alive
Japanese title: Girumon Tanjō! Boku no Kangaeta Dejimon
( Japanese: ギルモン誕生!僕の考えたデジモン)
( English: Guilmon is Born! The Digimon that I Created )
Japanese air date: April 1, 2001
English air date: September 1, 2001
Episode breakdown:
Calumon
is being attacked by wild Digimon ( Maildramon and
Darktyrannomon/Metaltyrannomon ) and somehow realizes in the real world.
Meanwhile, a boy named Takato plays the Digimon card game with his
school friend Kazu, after that he finds a mysterious blue card in his
Digimon card box and tries to scan it with his card reader, because of
that he is late for class and has to stand outside in the hall as
punishment.
His obsession with Digimon leads him to draw a Digimon
he made up, Guilmon, on a notepad, which in turn gets him into
detention. Jeri comes back to the classroom during Takato's detention for her recorder/flute ( which she forgot to take home ) and informs him to write the apology to the teacher.
Meanwhile we see Hypnos ( location Tokyo Metropolitan Government
Building ) where Yamaki, Riley and Tally are investigating an
abnormality ( a packet ) that is expanding, they are unsure if it's a
wild one or not.
Later after school when Takato goes back to his
card box he finds that his card reader transformed into a Digivice, when
he gets home he notices that the blue card is gone, the Digivice then
copies his created Digimon's data from his notepad and creates a real
Digi-egg.
He then has a strange dream involving a Digimon Tamer and
her partner (Rika Nonaka and Renamon) who are fighting a Lynxmon that
has realized.
In the morning he asks his dad if they had Digimon
during his childhood and if Digimon could be a real thing, his reply to
both is "no".
Meanwhile we see Calumon questioning human behavior compared to that of Digimon.
Takato then tells Kazu and Kenta ( his friends from school ) that
Digimon are real and that he saw them in a dream, as such they poke fun
at him.
His Digi-egg then hatches and he finds out that he is able to locate his created Digimon through the compass in his Digivice.
Meanwhile we see Hypnos detecting a wild one that is on a higher level
than previous ones and Tally suggests to erase him using the " Tracer "
program, Yamaki however wants to know where the wild one will realize
first and asks her to put the Tracer program on hold.
We now see Takato using the compass and to go look for Guilmon as he realizes into the real world.
Meanwhile we also see that Henry and Suzie notice a wild one realizing from their apartment.
Rika also notices this as well from a different location in the city.
Hypnos locate the wild and it realizes in West Shinjuku, they are unable to stop it.
After he finds his created Digimon Guilmon, in a construction site, he
then sees him using his attack on nearby rats, which in turn scares
Takato as he fears being attacked by Guilmon too.

Bio-emergence - Realize
Digimon Tamers Manga differences:
*It is never explained how Takato got his Digivce.
*Rather than trying to scan his notes in the Digivice himself, his
notes gets blown towards his Digivice by the wind when Takato is
sleeping.
*Rika notices Takato in his dream and tells him to fight because he is a Tamer.
My opinion:
A
very solid first episode that has a good and suspenseful pace and even
already introduces all of the 3 main characters and their Digimon in
some form.
The English version stays very faithful to the Japanese
version for this episode as nothing is cut out and the script is written
in a more mature way than the previous seasons counterparts who use
corny jokes in almost every instance they can.
The OST used in both
versions is different ( obviously ) but they each fit their respective
version and it doesn't feel out of place.
All in all I couldn't have made the episode better if I tried, and neither would I have changed anything about it.
Well that's it for the first episode breakdown, stay tuned for more coming the next few weeks : )
