Hi All,
If
you want to be up to date on what this is about, please go to the below
link where I explain everything, well mostly everything.
https://www.deviantart.com/hibotancreations/art/Calumon-Digimon-Tamers-reference-sheet-875472595
As for the rest of you, here we have Dobermon's reference sheet.
Fun
fact, did you know that Dobermon was a fanmade Digimon that someone
made for the 2001 V-Jump drawing Contest that they actually turned into
an official Digimon.
Funner fact, so are Mummymon and Cyberdramon.
He only appeared in one episode in Digimon tamers ( didn't even get a manga appearance )
He
is supposedly the Digimon partner of Alice McCoy, a girl that is often
in the fandom speculated as being a spirit that has already passed on (
even Chiaki J. Konaka states this on his official Digimon Tamers website
as well )
I like to believe that Alice
was kind of like a bridge between the Real world and the Digital world
so that Dobermon could pass through so that he could give the gift of
the Digimon Sovereigns so that the Tamers and their partners could Digivolve to their Mega level.
Another fun fact, Shibumi, one of the Monster
Makers that worked on the Digimon project, was supposed to already have
died in the beginning of Digimon Tamers, they however later retconned
it to him being in a coma instead.
While
he was in his coma ( or passed away in the earlier drafts ) he was able
to enter the Digital world and even bio-emerge to the real world ( like
a Digimon ) through his spirit/avatar. He was also the person that has
provided the Tamers with the blue cards as well.
I'd
like to believe that Alice is in a similar situation ( either dead or
in a coma ) I would even call it the same situation as the plot in Cyber
Sleuth where the main character is in a coma but is able to use his
Digital avatar in the real world.
Even
though dead spirits, also like that one dead girl in Cyber Sleuth,
Wizardmon and Myotismon in 02 or Adventure 2 are already a thing in the
Digimon franchise.
It's
a very interesting concept, one that I would love to use in the comic
and I already have an idea how I would implement it ( but I have to work
on it so that it doesn't become either too cheesy or to edgy haha )
Anyway, that was all for the Digimon ... what are you saying ... did I forget someone ...
Yeah about that, no Cyberdramon or Monodramon, sorry guys.
Reason for that is that I'm going to completely retcon Ryo from not only the Tamers continuity, but also for my comic.
Chiaki
J. Konaka was after all forced to add him to the series, despite him
not fitting in the Tamers cannon at all, otherwise they wouldn't have
allowed him to direct the series.
Which in the end was a
necessary evil since Tamers is by far the best in the Franchise, however
it took time away from characters that would have benefited having more
screentime, like Kazu, Kenta and their partners, Jeri, heck even Rika
and Renamon.
Did you know that while Ryo did
appear for a brief moment in the Tamers manga, he did not even appear in
the final battle with the D-reaper.
Even more he wasn't even there when Rika and Renamon became Sakuyamon.
The
Tamers manga actually did their Digivolution so much better as the two
didn't randomly decided to jump to their dead ( what was even up with
that ) in the manga Renamon actually fell down by accident while trying
to save Rika from falling of one of the edges, and in response Rika
jumped after her and this was what actually triggered their
Digivolution.
So in short, no Ryo, at most
he might get a cameo from me as he is the main protagonist in the
Wonderswan games, and he has a cameo in adventures 02.
And
since in Tamers Digimon adventure and 02 are a cannon series in that
universe ( yes the newer games and Xros Wars mention this even in the
Japanese version ) I wouldn't mind mentioning Ryo in such a fasion in
the comic. But as a actual character, no luck haha.
Sorry Ryo & Cyberdramon fans.
Also
normally I would either post the Tamers reference sheets or the
Digimons other forms, but unfortunately that will take some time ( it's
already a miracle that I manged to post for the past 10 days straight
haha ) so in the mean time to keep myself busy ( while avoiding a
burnout, I have a dayjob after all ) and to not let you guys worry that
this will be another failed comic project for a Tamers sequel that was
already promised by soooo many other people over the past decades.
I
have decided to rewatch the anime in full ( both the Japanese and
English version of Tamers ) to get a better understanding of all the
characters in the series, the places and backgrounds that are used so
that I can reference them for the comic, to know the exact differences
between the 2 versions, and to also get a straight timeline as well.
I
first was thinking of doing it in a video format/podcast kind of thing,
but decided against it ( it will just take up more unnecessary time
that I could spend on things that matter more for the project, and my
voice is terrible anyway haha ) and I will just post my findings here on
Deviantart and blog in the description box.
That will help me
get an oversight on things, and it will help me get a regular schedule
so that I can continue posting each day ( I have to get through 51
episodes after all, which will take around 2 months even if I upload on a
daily basis )
I might even add the Tamers manga version as
well just for funzies sake, as there are some legitimate good parts in
the Tamers Manga that I could use as well for the project.
Anyway that was all for now, I will post further details on this later, so stay tuned : )
And don't forget if you have any questions feel free to ask.
See ya all next time.
