Hi All,
See the below link for further information regarding my Digimon Tamers Continuation Comic.

Well hi everyone, has been a while again right.
Well I have a good reason for that, a reason that will make most of you happy I believe :)
First of I have some fun news for you guys for October.
The
first thing is a new Profile picture, since the old one was a
placeholder anyway, I'm not completely happy with it, but it'll have to
do for now ^-^
Next thing, I've mentioned
before that I was going to take screenshots of poses, characters and
backgrounds from the Tamers anime to use in my comic right.
First
I tried doing it the old fashioned way by taking screenshots of each
frame and then saving the picture as a PNG, Conclusion of that was that
it ended up taking way to much time ( like you can't even imagine ) so I
looked around for a different method and as you would have it there
actually is a very easy method to take screenshots and convert them into
PNG files using a program that I'm already owning anyway.
Talk
about luck haha, at the moment I'm at 20 episodes, but putting them
into folders for the respective characters will take a while, like a
loooong while ( we are talking about huge amounts of time here ), but
that's the least of my problems luckily.
Second
thing, I was talking about doing animations a while back right, well
since it's Halloween anyway I decided to do a few easy ( memey )
animations that most of you will already know, but Tamers related of
course.
I've had a bit of practice already and I think that
I'll get the first animation done, probably, at the end of next week ( I
hope )
If that works out fine then I'll start on another one, it's gonna be a lot of fun so look forward to that X3
And
I'll also probably will start working on the alternate Tamers OP with
Jeri, Kazu, Kenta and Suzie as the main characters, but it's a lot of
frames ( the original OP has 1851, so go figure right ) so that one will
probably take a while longer. Like possibly next year or something haha
XD
Oh also, look forward to my youtube channel under the same name, as I'll be posting my animations there :D
****And the BIG BIG update is regarding my Tamers Sequel Comic/Manga.
That
project is still ongoing, albeit slower than I would have liked, but
that's expected when I'm doing my hobbies after my dayjob ):
Either
way I was pondering how to best start working on the comic since I have
most of the plot ready, at least for the first part ( which will be
connected to the first Tamers Audio Drama where the Tamers send their
messages to the Digimon who are stuck in the Digital World, the twist is
of course that this will all be from the Digimons point of view, no
Humans involved in this part )
However I have
heavily underestimated how difficult it is to even make a comic, like
drawing is fine ( I'm still learning, but I'm making huge progress
compared to when I first started ) but the problem with comics is the
panels and the layout of the panels, and managing text bubbles and how
long your text can even be in that case ( which would be a huge issue
since the Tamers series is very dialogue heavy, especially when we are
talking character development scenes )
BUT, I
have some very good news, recently while looking into animations I have
also been looking into something else that I wanted to do for the
longest of times.
GAME DEVELOPMENT
Yes you
heard that right, and while looking into that I had the most ingenious
idea ever, Instead of making a Comic sequel, why not make a Visual Novel
style Comic instead.
The perks are massive, Not only can I add the following:
-OST ( Both voice clips and music from the show )
-Animation
-Visual Novel style Dialogue boxes
-I can work in the usual image format that I did drawings up to this point
-I can re-use backgrounds and Character models, but I can create unique scenes that I could not in a regular comic format
And
most importantly I will be both able to post my finished work on
Youtube and as a downloadable gamefile, so this way my work will always
be linked to me since you can't just steal something like this by just
removing the watermark.
I'm loving the idea of
this so far, it has a lot of perks and almost none of the downsides of a
regular comic format, and as inexperienced in comics as I am, I think
that this will be the best way going forward.
Also
the picture I posted here is kind of a test for trying backgrounds and
adding characters to them, Good news is that I improved considerably (
especially with the Jeri drawing I did a while back, I just suck at
backgrounds and perspective )
The not bad news is that it took
me a whole day to just draw what seemed to be an easy bedroom
background ( there characters where easy compared to that )
Took
me at least 8 hours to draw it, shade and highlight it, and then make
it look like it would fit in the show ( it's not perfect, but not bad
for a first try right )
And yes, everything is drawn by me, no copy-paste stuff.
Also Takato seems a bit off, I dunno if it's the perspective or something like that, but I'll keep on trying :D
(
If you wanna know, both Takato and Jeri are pestering Henry to help
them with coding for the comic, Takato might or might not use his pen to
persuade him, watch out for your eyes Henry D: )
In
case you are wondering, I'll be using the Godot game engine for the
comic, I've had a look at it the past week and I have too say that I
think it's the best option for how I plan to do things.
Unity would be a tad bit to difficult, and Godot has a very nice plugin for a visual novel style game.
And
as a practice I'll try to make a very short Jeri & Beelzemon Visual
Novel Comic ( something very short and sweet ) just to see how it works
out.
Also as a side note, I was also planning to work on a Tower Defense game ( based on the Digimon World 1 PSX Game )
There
are some tutorials out there for Godot for a Tower Defense game, so
that will be both fun to try something else, and to also have practice
using the engine ( a win win )
But more on that later of course : )
Please let me know what you guys think of this.
Do
you like the idea too, or would you have preferred a regular comic
manga format, and why in that case ( not that I'll go back on my plans,
but I'm just genuinely curious )
Anyway that was it for today and don't forget if you have any questions feel free to ask.
See ya all next time.
